Superintendent Report: Nothing additional to report.

Clerk’s Report: Nothing additional to report.

Motion by J. Wulff and seconded by C. Shepherd to accept the reports and bills and presented. Motion carried, 3-0.

OLD BUSINESS:

The bids were reviewed for the Lake Shore Drive water main project. It was the committee’s unanimous decision to recommend to the Village Council accepting the bid submitted by Southwest Transport for open-cut in the amount of $143,177.60.

Superintendent Reitz went over the pump house upgrades; due to an emergency earlier in the month, Reitz had requested and been granted approval from the Village Council to pursue repairs to the pump house. The total estimated cost of repairs is approximately $160,000.

The contract for services between the Village of Michiana and Michiana Shores is currently under review. A joint meeting between the two entities has been proposed by the Village Council for later on in the spring.

NEW BUSINESS:

Reitz recommended an increase in the tap-in fees from the current $1,200 to $2,000. The current fees barely cover the Village’s costs for installation.

Reitz is also reviewing the water rates and has requested information from the AWWA; Reitz is looking into the possibility of changing water rates to a tiered system.

Reitz also explained that the water meters will be slowly changed out and replaced with meters than can be read by a handheld device, which will eventually allow for all of the meters to be read in a week, instead of 3-1/2 weeks as they are now.

ADJOURNMENT:

The meeting was adjourned at 11:49 a.m. EST.

Respectfully submitted,

Mary Jo Nallenweg

Clerk
