Village of Michiana
Special Council Meeting
April 21st, 2008
The special meeting of the Council of the Village of Michiana was called to order at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) by President John Luce.
Present were Hillary Herbst, John Llewellyn, John Luce, and Sheila Stein.
Motion by H. Herbst and seconded by J. Llewellyn to excuse the absence of P. Carpenter. Motion carried, 4-0.
President Luce read a letter submitted by Clerk Nallenweg requesting to go into closed session.
Motion by S. Stein and seconded by J. Llewellyn to go into closed session. Motion carried, 4-0, on roll call vote.
The council went into closed session at 1:08 p.m. (EDT) to discuss the personnel matter on the agenda.
The council returned from closed session at 1:17 p.m. (EDT).
After much discussion, it was decided that a policy would be drawn up governing employee transactions as advised by legal counsel. John Llewellyn was commended for the document he submitted regarding business between the Village and residents. The Village will also look into safety products for the hall, i.e. security cameras and buzz-locks for the front door.
Motion by J. Llewellyn and seconded by S. Stein to adjourn the meeting at 1:29 p.m. EDT.
