| BEACH WARNING INFORMATION |
In an effort to better educate the public regarding the presence of e coli bacteria and the recent warnings posted at Michiana Village beaches, a fact sheet in PDF form is attached below.
The Village of Michiana beaches are monitored/sampled by the Berrien County Health Department. There are certain levels that become unacceptable for human lake water contact. Upon the Health Department receiving the results of the water samples and unacceptable levels of e coli are found, the beaches are immediately re-sampled and monitored until the levels return to normal. The Village is advised of the high bacterial levels and at that time the beaches within our municipality are posted. Once the levels return to normal, the Village is once again notified by the Health Department and at that time the signs are removed.
